When Mossyrock dam was built the three towns of Kosmos, Riffe, and Nesika were flooded During the creation of Riffe lake, Due to a very dry winter in December 2000 and January 2001, Riffe lake began to recede. The town of Kosmos was left high and dry. Many building foundations and old bridges became visible. By mid January Kosmos became an attraction. On a nice weekend hundreds of people come to see what is left of Kosmos. When Alder dam was built the town of Reliance and the town of alder were submerged.
